REFFA THEME SONG CONTEST

 

The Regal Film Festival and Awards (REFFA) is inviting entries for a music composition competition to select the official soundtrack for the festival.

 

REFFA is a film festival and awards scheme based in Accra, Ghana, dedicated to celebrating Africa’s storytelling tradition and cinematic excellence. It seeks to nurture emerging creators, honour established talents and give African narratives global visibility.

 

 

GUIDELINES

 

The soundtrack must combine music and lyrics.

 

The music should be at least 90% African-inspired, sampling indigenous rhythms, melodies and styles from across the continent.

 

Lyrics should be concise, powerful and align with the spirit of the awards, including reference to the festival’s tagline.

 

The primary language should be English, but there is room for French or popular African catchphrases to give it a continental flavour.

 

Maximum duration: 1 minute 30 seconds.

 

Submissions must demonstrate high-quality sound production, catchy melodies and strong lyrical writing.

 

The composition should be an original piece. No samples or interpolations.

 

 

REWARD & RIGHTS

 

The winner will receive a cash prize of $1000

 

Ownership of Rights

 

Upon payment of the prize, REFFA will secure full ownership of the soundtrack, including: Mechanical rights (rights to reproduce and distribute the recording), Synchronization rights (right to use the music with moving images in festival promotions, films, TV and digital platforms), Performance rights (the right to perform or broadcast the soundtrack at live events or through media), and Publishing rights (ownership of the composition itself: lyrics and melody).

 

 

HOW TO TAKE PART IN THE CONTEST

 

Go on the REFFA website, fill the form, attach your file (soundtrack) and submit.
